Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the RootSoccer platform, including our web application at rootsoccer.com and the RootSoccer mobile application (collectively, the “Service”), operated by RootSoccer (“we”, “our”, or “us”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

RootSoccer provides a league management platform for amateur soccer organizations, including tools for player registration, team management, game scheduling, payment processing, SafeSport compliance tracking, and public league websites. The Service is provided to league administrators, team managers, and registered players.

2. Account Registration

Access to certain features requires creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information during registration. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account independently; players under 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Provide false information or impersonate another person during registration
• Upload documents or photos that do not belong to you or for which you lack rights
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users’ data
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service without our written consent

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you upload (photos, documents, etc.). By uploading content, you grant RootSoccer a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, display, and use your content solely to provide the Service — for example, displaying your headshot on your league’s public team page or printing it on a game sheet. We do not use your content for advertising or sell it to third parties.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that any content you upload does not violate the rights of third parties or applicable laws.

5. Payments and Fees

Registration fees and other charges are set by your league administrator, not by RootSoccer. Payment processing is handled by Stripe. By submitting a payment, you agree to Stripe’s terms of service. RootSoccer is not responsible for refunds; refund policies are determined by your league administrator. League administrators using RootSoccer’s payment features agree to Stripe Connect terms.

6. Role-Based Responsibilities

League Administrators

League administrators are responsible for their league’s compliance with applicable laws (including data protection laws) for data they collect through RootSoccer, setting appropriate registration requirements, managing their league’s payment terms, and ensuring appropriate use of player data.

Players and Team Members

Players are responsible for submitting accurate registration information and required documents (ID, SafeSport certificates, etc.) as required by their league.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROOTSOCCER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Michigan.
