Built with minor safety in mind.
Root{Sport} serves kids, teens, and adults who play sports together. That means most of our users are minors — and the right thing to do is be honest about how we protect them, what choices families have, and what you do if something goes wrong.
How we protect minors
- No under-13 accounts. Kids under 13 cannot self-sign up. A parent or guardian creates the account on their behalf under verifiable parental consent (COPPA).
- Private by default. New accounts and recruiting profiles default to private. Nothing is public until the user (or guardian, for a minor) opts in.
- No scout contact with minors directly. Any contact from a scout or recruiter to a player under 18 is routed through the guardian’s inbox and requires guardian approval before the player sees anything.
- No precise geolocation on player profiles. City and state only — never street address, never lat/lng on minor profiles.
- Background-checked streaming operators. Anyone who records a game on our streaming platform is vetted with a background check and SafeSport training attestation on file.
- Audited access. Every view of a minor’s profile is logged. Guardians can see exactly who has looked at their child’s data and when.

Data rights
You can download everything we know about you, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time. For users under 18, the linked guardian has the same rights on the minor’s behalf. We honor export and deletion requests within 30 days (export) or 60 days (deletion).
Some audit records are retained longer for legal and safety reasons (7 years for payment and access events; never purged for CSAM incidents) even after account deletion. See the full privacy policy for specifics.
Incident response & disclosures
If a data breach affects you, we will notify you per applicable state breach-notification laws. If we become aware of illegal content involving minors (including CSAM), we preserve evidence and report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children CyberTipline as required by law. If you need urgent help, contact local law enforcement first.
